Al que en montes de espuma sumergido,
le da el piélago tumba cristalina,
es el mayor tormento de su ruina
la memoria del puerto apetecido.
Llora aherrojado al infeliz, que ha sido
horror del cruel influjo, que le inclina,
siendo quien al sollozo le destina
la libertad amada que ha perdido.
Si en prisión, y en tormenta, los desmayos
crecen al paso del dolor terrible,
acordándole el bien el mal presente.
No quiero, Copia hermosa, ver sus rayos,
pues para hacer que mi dolor se aumente,
me acuerdas la beldad con lo imposible.
